I think that your sky is a very important element in the photograph. It adds a great deal of interest. I think that if you "eliminate" the dark clouds the photograph will become very flat.

I think that this and the more recent photograph of a building backlit by a very brilliant sunset are really very good. Once I move, I may be interested in purchasing the backlit building photograph.

The mood of the 2 photographs is very different but both are interesting.

I think it has a good location. But at the same time, I think the sky is a little bit darkness, and there are a lot of clouds.

Ah great points! I guess because the buildings are "part of" the Lighthouse I thought I'd have to put it in. That's where the Coast Guard is camped out (surprisingly there are lots of people who work at that one place).

Anyways, thanks for the feedback.. I'll have to go back sometime and see what I can do.

I was on top of a hill so I'm not sure how far left I could go before I'm no longer on the hill and lose the height.

I have looked again at your photograph which I think could be very compelling. The sky is a marvelous element, but I am thinking that if you cropped the photograph the way I would like to see to change the mood, you would also be losing some interesting shrubbery in the left foreground.

If you again get the opportunity, I am wondering whether moving a little to the left to take the photograph so that you eliminated the excess buildings that I feel detract from the lighthouse, might work well since it would allow you to retain the interesting shrubbery. Your camera angle would then shift slightly to the right as you shift your position to the left.

I think that that photograph I would consider buying.

I am a photographer but I also have a love of buying really good photographs that I see. I like to buy photographs which have good composition and interest but also convey a mood and are technically good also.

I have a feeling that you would increase the impact of your photograph by cropping the left side just to the right of the group of buildings inland from the lighthouse.

I think that the photograph would then convey a feeling to solitude and of being "out there" doing the proper job of a lighthouse--to warn ships at sea of a point of land or an unexpected obstruction.

Lighthouses are placed in lonely spots and, at least for me, embody solitude.
